Patek Philippe Museum

Overview:

The Patek Philippe Museum is one of the most beautiful tourist places in Geneva, which expresses the ancient history of Switzerland, which makes it one of the most famous countries in the watch industry at all.

Historic overview:

Switzerland has been known for its skill in watchmaking and its infinite precision throughout the ages in this craft. There are families known to control this craft internationally and not only in Switzerland. The Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva is based on the same company and has a number of rare and old pieces.

"Patek Philippe" opened its doors to visitors for the first time in 2001, due to Philip Stern's passion for watches, so he opened what he called "The Temple of Watches" and used it to display a group of watches, some of which date back to the sixteenth century, which were manufactured either in Switzerland or around the world.

Museum contents:

It tells the story of the development of Swiss watches in a dazzling and perfect chronology, including alarms, wristwatches, sundials, wall clocks and precious jewelled watches dating back to 1500 AD.

The museum contains the oldest clock in the world, as well as the most complex clock in terms of manufacture, and many watches that were made in 1839 AD, which were manufactured by "Patek Philippe", who is famous for manufacturing the finest watches in the world.

The first floor includes a set of precision machinery used to manufacture unique Patek Philippe watches. On this tour, you are accompanied by a tour guide from the museum explaining to you the history of the company's watch-making since the sixteenth century.

The second floor includes a group of old and rare watches, which you will not see anywhere else, these watches are characterized by their different and changing forms throughout history, such as sand clocks, sundials, circular clocks, alarms and many more, and the most famous watches on this floor is the royal watch that was manufactured for the family of "Patek Philippe" in the year 1500 AD.
