Al Sakakini Palace

Overview:

Sakakini Palace is considered one of the most important Egyptian archaeological palaces in modern times, and one of the most important historical tourist attractions in Cairo.

Historic overview:

It was built in 1897 AD by Habib Pasha Sakakini.

Sakakini Palace was built by Italian architects who came specially to participate in its construction, and it is considered a model of Rococo art.

In 1923, Habib Pasha Sakakini passed away, and his wealth was divided among the heirs who gave the palace to the government.

Architectural description:

The palace was built in the Italian style, with conical domes, and with its medieval Byzantine design.

The palace is located on an area of 2,698 square meters, includes more than 50 rooms and it is five floors high.

The palace contains more than 400 windows and doors and 300 statues, including the bust of Habib Pasha Sakakini at the top of the main entrance to the palace.

Although the park surrounding the palace was not very large, but it helped partly to isolate the palace from the modern buildings around it.

The palace also contains a basement, and its corners are surrounded by 4 towers, each of which is overridden by a small dome.

The palace contains a group of unique artifacts, in addition to the "Dora Al Tag" girl statue and some other statues.
