Overview:

• In 1859 AD, Hakodate, Yokohama and Nagasaki were opened by the Edo Shogunate for trade with foreign countries, and with the development of foreign trade, the city was rapidly adopting a Western style, and there are still a large number of Western-style buildings in the city, one of them is the old public hall in the Hakodate Ward.

Architectural description:

• The hall stands on a hill that has a panoramic view of Hakodate Bay. It is a two-story wooden structure with a beautiful contrast of blue-gray walls and yellow window frames. It is built in colonial style with large windows and balconies arranged symmetrically on the right and left of the front porch.
