Al Arif Billah Mosque
Overview:
Al-Arif Billah Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Sohag Governorate, as it was founded in the eighth century AH and is located in the center of Sohag.
The area of the mosque exceeds seven thousand square meters, and some officials visit it during their visit to Sohag.
It has a shrine for Al Arif Billah in a wing attached to the mosque named after him. The shrine has two entrances, one from the outside for men and the other from the inside for women.
Al Arif Billah is a nickname given to him, and his real name is Ismail bin Ali bin Abdul Sami bin Abdul Aal al-Yamani, nicknamed Hussein Abu Taqiya, also known as Fahl Alrijal, and was born in the village of Dandara, Qena, then moved to Sohag, and he is from Al-Ashraf family.
