Place de la Concorde
Overview:
• The Place de la Concorde is one of the major public squares in Paris, France measuring 7.6 hectares. It is located in a distinctive place in the heart of Paris and the eastern end of the Champs-Élysées.
• The place was designed by Ange-Jacques Gabriel in 1755. The square has a number of statues and fountains along with other attractions.
• You can take a stroll in the Place de la Concorde to see its attractions such as the magnificent fountains, surrounded with statues built during Louis Philippe's reign. There are also other statues of French or religious figures located on the sides of the square.
• One of most important features of the "Place of Concorde" is the "Luxor Obelisk" placed by "King Ramses II" in front of the Temple of Taiba in 1350 BC. Later on, Mohamed Ali Wali granted it to France in the thirties of the nineteenth century in 1831; you can enjoy watching the engravings and decorations on the Obelisk or take pictures there.
