Mohamed Drissi Gallery of Contemporary Art

Overview:

Contemporary Art Gallery located in the former British Consulate, this gallery was established in 1990 AD.

The pavilion for permanent exhibition is 276 square meters distributed over a foyer, five halls, in addition to a garden designed in the British architectural style.

The building of the gallery is one of the unique urban landmarks in Tangier. It was built in 1898 AD in the British engineering style, to respond to the requirements of the protocol, considering that the building was the headquarters of the British Consul General in Morocco; It was necessary to combine durability, elegance and aesthetic design and engineering.

The gallery area is about 270 m at a height of 5 m. Its ceiling is made of wood, covered with a false ceiling of engraved gypsum, covered with green wood tiles.

Starting in 1990, this building was used as a museum of contemporary art, which included the works of a group of contemporary Moroccan artists.

The Mohammed Drissi Gallery for Contemporary Art was inaugurated on April 12, 2007, in the gallery "Picasso Ceramics".
