Overview:
It is a school with ingenious construction and amazing engineering. It was founded by the Alawi Sultan “Muhammad Rashid” Al Sharif in 1670 AD. It is spacious and includes many rooms in which students used to live. He made it three floors, comprising two hundred and thirty-two houses and a dome for prayer.
Al-Cherratine School in Fez, with its ingenious construction and amazing engineering, in which student classrooms surround the inner courtyard instead of the main courtyard, as is the case in most schools in Morocco.
The school consists of a central courtyard surrounded by a portico on the qibla side and on the other three sides a portico. There are also other internal courtyards surrounded by student classrooms.
