Kara Mustafa Bath

Overview:

Kara Mustafa Bath is one of the oldest historical baths in Bursa, contains curative hot spring water.

The bathroom is located in one of the most famous regions of Bursa "Osman Ghazi", which is the center of the city of Bursa. It is 2.5 km away from the city center. It includes sections for males and others for families.

Historical overview

It dates back centuries. It was built by the Minister of State “Rustem Pasha,” for their king, “Silman the Magnificent” in 1555 AD. It is one of the most important baths that the Sultan used. It was the bathhouse of the Khanoms and Bashas. Today it is one of the most famous baths in the city.

Description of the hot spring baths in Bursa:

The hot springs, whose fame has spread throughout the Middle East, are located in the western side of Bursa and in Çekirge region. It extends from the "Uludag Mountain".

The discovery of hot springs in the Turkish Bursa dates back to periods close to Roman times, when they built the first hot spring baths. The Byzantine state also paid great attention to these springs.

Some hot springs in Bursa contain high concentration of sulfur, and the temperature of its water is high, reaching 80 degrees Celsius, while some others are characterized by moderate temperatures that ranging between 38 - 57 degrees Celsius.

The Hot spring baths in Bursa are similar in design to each other, as there is a large hall at the entrance where you can take off your clothes,  there are shower rooms of various sizes that are cleaned continuously, and the bathroom includes also steam rooms and saunas in addition to a private place for refreshments after shower.

The residential homes and hotels in the Çekirge district have natural hot water.
