Al Wakrah

Al-Wakrah: A city whose name is derived from the den of birds due to the location of the mountain of Al-Wakrah next to it, in which birds build their dens.

Among its landmarks are the ancient city of Al-Wakrah, Saif Al-Wakrah Market, Al-Wakrah Castle, and Al-Wakrah Museum, and in it the scholar Muhammad bin Hassan Al-Marzouqi was born, and he was its prince during the reign of Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad Al Thani, his son Sheikh Abdul Rahman, who lived in Al-Wukair and his descendants are still in it. Ibn Uthaymeen lamented him when he died with a poem, and from the celebrities of Al-Wakrah: Sheikh Yaqoub bin Yusuf Al-Tamimi, who took over the district of Al-Wakrah during the reign of Sheikh Jassim, and from the regions of Al-Wakrah: Al-Jabal, Umm Al-Hawl, Al-Rumaila, and other areas.
