Matruh
Matruh Governorate is one of the governorates of Egypt; Its capital is the city of Marsa Matruh. Its area is large, but many of it are forbidden to be exploited due to the presence of about 16 million mines left by European countries during the First and Second World Wars.
Matruh governorate is located in the northwest corner of the Arab Republic of Egypt - extending from km (61) west of Alexandria governorate to the Egyptian-Libyan border (the city of Salloum), i.e. 450 km long on the Mediterranean coast and extending southward to a depth of about 400 km south of the Siwa Oasis and the governorate is limited in the eastern side by the governorates of Alexandria and Beheira, and in the south by Giza and New Valley.
