Florence

• The city of Florence is located in northwest Italy and is the capital of the Tuscany region, surrounded by hills and mountains. It also flows through the "Arno River", which was a major factor in its formation.

• The city extends on the banks of the “Arno River” and its metropolitan area has a population of more than 950,000 people, about half of whom live in the city itself.

• Florence is famous for its cultural prosperity and centrality in the Renaissance, and for its artistic and architectural richness.

• "Florence" in the Middle Ages was considered an economic and commercial center in Europe, and was previously called "Athens of the Middle Ages".

• "Florence" is a prominent tourist attraction. It is estimated that the number of tourists who visit it every year is about 5 million. UNESCO declared the Historic Center of Florence a World Heritage Site in 1982.

• The known history of Florence begins in the year 59 BC, when it was founded by Julius Caesar.

• It constituted an important and central contribution to building and shaping Western arts, and was taken as a home by "Dante Alighieri", the author of the Divine Comedy, and the famous artist "Raphael", "Leonardo de Vinci", "Botticelli" and many others.

• It also contributed a lot to European architecture and literature, in addition to its famous and antique university in all of Europe.

• "Florence" is a large museum, and it contains the original statue of "David" sculpted by "Michael Angelo" and a large collection of paintings in the "Gallery Uffizi".
