Al Ahsa
The city of Al-Ahsa is one of the most important cities in Saudi Arabia and is located in the eastern region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meaning of the name Al-Ahsa is the sound of groundwater, and it is one of the largest oases in the world and the largest oasis in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia because it contains thirty waterholes. It is indicated that its water is natural and valid for irrigation. It extends from the Arabian Gulf to Oman, and is surrounded by palm trees on all sides and has a suitable and temperate atmosphere.
The space of the city of Al-Ahsa is 534,000 five hundred and thirty-four thousand square kilometres and thus occupies a quarter of the area of the kingdom. It is surrounded by a group of cities as it borders it to the northern side the city of Buqayq, and from the eastern side is surrounded by both the Gulf of Salwa and the Arabian Gulf, and on the south side there is Oman, and on the western side there is Ad-dahna Desert. It is inhabited according to the statistics of 2015, 1,200,00, and it is considered the largest city surrounded by palm trees, and it has a hot climate in summer, and cold rainy winter.
Al-Ahsa city is surrounded by three million palm trees that take a large area of the city, which helped to establish a date factory that produces a large amount of dates that reaches about one hundred thousand tons, or 10% of the total production of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to the cultivation of citrus fruits and various fruits and all of this is due to the availability of groundwater in addition to the presence of natural springs in it. It is famous for the industries that depend on oil extraction. As for trade, many markets and various commercial stores has been established in it.
The most important landmarks in Al-Ahsa:
Al-Ahsa Parks: It occupies a large area and is characterized by the beauty and charm of nature. they are also has been cared for them greatly, the most prominent of which are Al Mala’b park and South of Al-Hofuf Park.
Al-Uqayr Port: It is the main port of Al-Ahsa city, and it is 45 km from the eastern side of the governorate. It is named after the name of Al Uqayr tribe, which inhabited the region during the first millennium of birth, and it is of great importance as it links between the archaeological sites in the city and the old buildings.
Al Qara Mountain: It is the most prominent tourist area in the city and the most attractive to tourists. This strange mountain also has the same name of the village in which it is located. It is characterized by the presence of cool caves in the summer and warm during the winter and its unusual rocks, as it consists of sedimentary rocks, with strange shapes and uniquely intertwined.
Ibrahim Palace: This palace is characterized by an Ottoman-style military engineering style where it was the seat of the Ottoman garrison during its rule of the region, and is considered the main center of the administration of Al-Ahsa Governorate, and is located in the northern side of Al Kut region, and this palace is open seven days a week for visit by tourists.
Jawatha Mosque: It is the second mosque in which the Friday prayer was held after (the Prophet’s Mosque, may God bless him and grant him peace), and it was built by Bani Abd Qais, and the distance between it and Al Hofuf Mosque is about seventeen kilometres.
