Rukniya School

Overview:

It is located outside the walls of the old city of "Damascus" at the end of "Ibn Tulun Al-Salihi" Street, which leads from "Al-Maysat" Square to "Shamdeen Square" in the "Rukn Al-Din" locality at the eastern foot of "Qasioun" Mountain in Al-Salihiya. The school is in the middle of “Shamdeen Square” and occupies the largest area of it, and the best of the Hanafi teachers were taught in it, among them Al Qari, Al-Bajili and Abu Shama scholars. It was established by Prince "Rukn al-Din Menkoors al-Hanafi al-Falaki" in the year 621 AH corresponding to 1224 AD, and its construction was completed in 625 AH and made it to teach the Hanafi school. He endowed many endowments on it, and built a grave inside it, and when he died in the year 631 AH in the village of “Jayrud” north of “Damascus”, he was carried there and buried inside.
