King Fahd Mosque (Džamija Kralj Fahd)

Overview:

It is a mosque located in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Its construction began on the 26th of Dhu al-Hijjah 1418 AH corresponding to April 23, 1998, and it was inaugurated in the year 2000 AD, by Prince Salman bin Abdelaziz, Governor of Riyadh, Bosnian President Ali Izetbegovic and a number of officials in the Bosnian government.

The mosque is one of the largest civilized projects in the Balkans, and it is also the largest mosque implemented by the High Commission for Fundraising for the Muslims of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The mosque also includes a cultural center that includes a lecture hall that can accommodate 300 people, and a central library containing more than 10,000 titles, initially equipped with reading rooms, research units, listening cells, and copies of audio and video tapes.

The center also includes the administrative building, housing for the imam and another for the director of the center, and a sports hall for group games that are in line with the orientation of the cultural center. The center also includes a computer unit and a laboratory for teaching the Arabic language.
