The well of Ruma
Historical Overview:
Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him said -: 'Whoever will (buy and) dig the well of Ruma will be granted Paradise'. Othman, may Allah be pleased with him, digged it and made it a charity for Muslims.
The Well of Ruma is located northwest of the Prophet’s Mosque on a farm in the Well of Othman neighborhood. Its water was fresh, it has been depleted repeatedly, and the caliphs and sultans were keen to take care of it.
Correcting a historical error:
Abdullah Kaber, a researcher on the history of the Prophet’s biography and the monuments of Al Madinah, explained that there is a scientific confusion that it was the companion Othman bin Affan who made this endowment.
Kaber stated that the well is still present, and it is known in its place, as it still pours fresh water, and it has palm trees surrounding it, and an integrated farm in this place.
