Overview:
Aswan Cemetery, which is considered one of the oldest cemeteries in the entire Islamic world, is located on the eastern outskirts of Aswan and consists of two cemeteries, one is in the north and the other is in the south.
The climate of Aswan had its effect on remaining the graves of this cemetery, where the severe drought that preserved the ancient buildings even if it was constructed with the weakest building materials - which is mud bricks - which is the most used material during that period.
The reconstruction, the expansion of the city and the opening of the streets in the middle of the current century necessitated the demolition of many of them, leaving only scattered examples.
The history of this cemetery extends from the second century AH / eighth century AD (2 AH / 8 AD) to the seventh century AH / thirteenth century AD (7 AH / 13 AD).
