Overview
Red beach (Κόκκινη Παραλία) is one of the most famous tourist spots in Santorini, and it was named the red beach as its sand color is red. Although the beach is small it's always crowded, as the visitors like to climb the stairs to see the red volcanic rock, and to buy grapes from the fruit sellers at the beach. The red color resulted when the volcano erupted and destroyed the island and the surrounding area. The red beach is located near akrotiri settlement, where you can leave your car at the parking and walk or ride a boat to the beach.
