About the city

Alexandria

Alexandria is the second capital of Egypt, and its capital in the past. It is the capital of Alexandria Governorate and its largest city. It is located on the Mediterranean coast with a length of about 55 km northwest of the Nile Delta.

Alexandria includes many distinctive landmarks, as it has Egypt's largest seaports (Alexandria port and Dekheila port), so about 80% of the total Egyptian imports and exports pass through the city.

It also includes the new Library of Alexandria, which accommodates more than 8 million books.

It also has many museums and archaeological sites such as Citadel of Qaitbay, Pompey's Pillar, and others.

Alexandria is divided into nine administrative Districts, namely, El Montazah First District, El-Montazah Second District, East Alex District, Downtown District, West Alex District, El Gomrok District, El-Agamy District, Amreya First District and Amreya Second District.
