Algerian Desert
The tourist Algerian Desert is part of the Sahara Desert, which is located in north-central Africa, it occupies more than four-fifths of the Algerian territory, and includes many places of tourism in Algeria that are worth visiting.
The desert starts from the Atlas desert mountain range, where the coloured rocks exist, until the desert sand dunes, and in the south-eastern parts lies Tassili n'Ajjer mountain range, which has a great archaeological interest, and was classified on the World Heritage List by UNESCO.
This desert is considered the hottest desert area in the world. The African Sahara extends over more than 3.5 million square miles and is roughly the size of the entire United States of America.
The nomadic tribes have lived in this desert since ancient times, and they consider the desert their headquarters. More than 2.5 inhabitants live in the borders, and sometimes life is very harsh.
The Algerian Sahara is the largest reservoir of solar energy in the world, according to what the German Space Agency announced after a recent study conducted by the agency's experts. The solar radiation in the Algerian Sahara lasts 3000 hours of radiation per year, which is the highest level of sunshine at the global level, the study also concluded that the production of electricity from solar energy from the Algerian desert could cover 50 times the energy needs of the European continent, which it consumes annually.
