Incheon
• Incheon is the third largest city in South Korea after Seoul and Busan. It is located in northwestern South Korea.
• It is the largest seaport on the west coast, and the country's largest airport, Incheon International Airport, is located in Yeongjeongdo, just over an hour away by bus.
• It also has the tallest skyscraper, the Northeast Asia Trade Tower, which is 305 meters (1,001 feet) high and has 68 floors.
• This expanding city and industrial port - 36 km west of Seoul - is where Korea was opened to the world in 1883, ending centuries of self-imposed isolation.
• The first thing that was recorded historically about the "Incheon" region in the year 475 AD in the Kingdom of " Goguryeo". It was called Michuhol, then the name changed a lot with the change of kingdoms and ruling dynasties, until it took the current name in 1413 AD during the rule of the Joseon Kingdom.
• On September 15, 1950, during the Korean War, US General Douglas MacArthur led the United Nations forces in a daring landing behind enemy lines here to relieve pressure on the Pusan perimeter and to launch the UN offensive northward, the result of which was a decisive UN victory.
• Parts of this history can be seen in Incheon today, particularly in the Chinatown and Open Harbor areas, which are the most interesting areas to explore and are easily accessible by subway.
• You can come here to eat Chinese food and visit the Yunnan fish market, where you can catch ferries to China or the West Sea Islands.
