Seville
It is the capital and largest city of the Spanish autonomous community of Andalusia and the province of Seville. It is situated on the banks of the River Guadalquivir.
It is the most populous city in Spain, after Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia. It is about 140.8 km² and it is also the fourth largest urban agglomeration in the country.
Seville was very famous during the Muslim rule of Spain in the Middle Ages, and it was also called (Hems). In the mid-ninth century AD, Abd al-Rahman II ordered the building of a naval fleet and weapons factory.
One of its most famous rulers was al-Mu'tamid ibn Abbad, and one of its most important landmarks was La Giralda minaret, which was built by order of Sultan Abu Yusuf Yaqoub al-Mansur.
It is about 5 and a half hours away from the Spanish capital, Madrid, and it is the main starting point for visiting the landmarks and cities of Andalusia in southern Spain.
Seville has many famous Islamic and Arab monuments and landmarks as Alcazar Palace, the Giralda Tower, the Seville Cathedral, in addition to the beautiful public squares such as the Plaza de España, and the beautiful gardens such as “Maria Luisa” garden.
