Tetouan

• The tourist city of "Tetouan" is one of the ancient Moroccan cities, nicknamed the "White Dove" city; Because of the statue of the white dove in its center.

• Its neighborhoods are characterized by their Andalusian character. They are located in a rural area on the Mediterranean coast, called the Great Rif, in the area between the heights of Jbel Dersa and the Rif Mountains.

• It dates back to the third century BC, but the name "Tetouan" has been attached to it since the 11th century, when it witnessed reconstruction and renewal in the 15th century.

• The beginning of the modern history of the city was at the end of the fifteenth century AD, that is, during the fall of the city of Granada, the last stronghold of Muslims in Andalusia at the hands of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabel, where thousands of Muslims and Jews fled towards northern Morocco in general from Andalusia. On the ruins of the destroyed city, "Tetouan", reconstruction and growth began, as it witnessed prosperity in various fields, then turned into a center for receiving and embracing the Andalusian civilization, and the city's port turned into one of the most important ports in the countries of the Maghreb.

• The city enjoys a picturesque rural nature, thanks to its view of the Mediterranean Sea with its location between the Rif Mountains and Dersa near Tangier, making it an ideal destination for safari trips, mountain or beach camping, while attending the special artistic and cultural events sponsored by the city such as the Oud Festival.

• The ancient city of "Tetouan" was registered in the year one thousand nine hundred and ninety-seven on the World Heritage List approved by UNESCO; This is due to the unique aesthetic that characterizes the city, due to the impressive blending of the Moroccan spirit with the Andalusian civilization represented in its architecture, and the arts in general, and the city is characterized by its distance from external engineering influences.

• The coast of the ancient tourist city embraces a group of the finest and most beautiful resorts on the Mediterranean coast, including: Capella, Cabo Negro, Restnica, Marina Smir, Tamuda Bay, and others. These sites have contributed to attracting thousands of tourists from all over the world, in addition to attracting a number of famous and wealthy people.
