Alozlam Castle
Overview:
• It is one of the most important tourist attractions in Duba, and it was once one of the most important stations on the Egyptian pilgrimage route during the Mamluk and Ottoman eras.
• It was built for the first time during the era of Sultan "Muhammad bin Qalawun" (684 AH / 1285 - 741 AH / 1341), then it was rebuilt during the reign of the Mamluk Sultan "Qansouh Al-Ghuri" in the year 916 AH.
Architectural description:
• "Al-Ozlam Castle" is the only steadfast castle from the Mamluk era in the Kingdom. The castle consists of a large courtyard, internal units, rectangular and semi-circular rooms, and a diwan. It is built of limestone and its courtyard is opened to all the internal units.
• The area of the castle is 1,500 square meters, and it is very close to the main road that connects Duba with Al Wajh, and it is now surrounded by a wall to protect it.
