About the city

Bursa

Bursa is the fourth most populated city in Turkey and one of the most important Turkish industrial cities and is the center of Bursa province. It is located in the northwest of the country, the Marmara region, between the cities of Istanbul and Ankara. In 2010 AD, its population reached about 1.2 million.

Bursa was the capital of an Ottoman state between 1326 and 1365 (the second capital of the Ottomans after Sogut). In the period of the Ottomans it was called (Khudawandkar), which means the gift of God, while its most famous name now is "Yeşil Bursa" which means "Green Bursa" due to the large number of public gardens and parks located around it, as well as the vast variety of forests spread around the region. Next to the city, there is the Uludag Mountain, which rises high behind its center and is also a popular ski resort, and spread in that city the tombs of the first Ottoman sultans, as well as many buildings of the Ottoman era, which constitute major landmarks of the city.
